My Learning Journey: Online Learning As A Change From Passive To Active Engagement
I looked at many images trying to capture the essence of how I see the learning journey. Mine, and my students. I wanted to have the image show how our students must not be allowed or forced to sit quietly and take in knowledge without interacting with it. My image needed to show how important it is for students to be animated by their learning. This can only happen if they are actively engaged in the learning process. Instead of a single image for a metaphor for what I see as the essence of online learning, I chose a series of five images from Darren Kuropatwa in the creative commons on Flickr. The images capture the necessity of a move from passive to active learning, from a static relationship between the student and their learning environment to a dynamic one. The images you see on each of my main pages give an impression of student engagement through active participation in their own learning. This is how I see the learning journey. We have to move from being passive learners to active ones. This is where success lies.
